About

The Coyote Pack is a collective of innovators, artists, and educators  founded and mentored by Doctor Conlisk-Gallegos. The  project was first designed at Cal State University, San Bernardino where students established a platform to voice and act towards the aftermath following the political circumstances undergone during the recent elections and post-inauguration. They did this using a variety of media including social media outlets, journalism, radio, and video production. This was done through what Dr. Conlisk-Gallegos calls a Rainbow Journalism (RJ) approach: "as a way to provide healing to our students, our communities, and myself post-2016 presidential election. Most current mass media outlets (including journalism) use individual representational perspectives (or projections), which push forward a story that predetermines and tends to present a fixed image of group identities. In contrast, the students in this course share their own struggles and invite others to do so as well. They produce stories of both marginalization and success, of partial inclusion, of simultaneous privilege and invisibility—showcasing a more holistic depth of our human experiences" (Conlisk-Gallegos, 2016). As a mentee of Dr. Conlisk-Gallegos and Coyote Pack member , I wanted to continue doing this work wherever I went. With Dr. Conlisk-Gallegos' blessing, I established a sister chapter at the University of New Mexico which serves as the sister organization to UNM MEChA.
